Grown Together

The Project

Grown Together is a parenting hub supporting families through education, practical help and opportunities to connect. Based in Timaru, their work brings together parenting courses, support services and resources for people at different stages of family life.

They approached Yellow Design to create a website that would bring these offerings together and make them easier to explore. Parents needed to be able to find relevant support, understand what a course involved and take the next step towards getting involved.

We handled the website design and development, with a focus on creating a welcoming experience and integrating course bookings and payments. The website needed to communicate the care behind the organisation while providing practical tools for parents and the Grown Together team.

A Welcoming First Impression

For an organisation centred on supporting families, the feel of the website matters. Someone arriving for the first time might be exploring activities with their baby, looking for guidance through a challenging stage or hoping to meet other parents.

We wanted the design to feel approachable from that first visit. Family photography brings a human element to the homepage, while a restrained colour palette and generous white space give the content room to breathe. Clear typography and straightforward navigation help visitors focus on what is available.

The opening message introduces Grown Together’s purpose, with courses and support services presented further down the page. This gives visitors an introduction to the organisation alongside practical starting points for exploring what they need.

Finding the Right Support

Grown Together offers a broad range of support, so organising the content was an important part of the project. We separated Courses + Workshops from Support Services, giving each a clear place within the navigation.

Within the course listings, names such as Toolbox Preschool Years, Toolbox Primary Years and Toolbox Teenage Years help parents recognise options relevant to their family. Short descriptions provide enough context to decide whether to explore further.

This structure supports different reasons for visiting. A parent looking for a course can browse the options, while someone seeking community connections or practical assistance can head to the support services. The Teen Parent Unit also has a direct place in the main navigation, making this service easy to locate.

Building Confidence Before Booking

Choosing a parenting course involves more than finding a suitable date. Parents also want to know what will be covered, who it is for and what attending might feel like.

The course pages bring this information together. On the Space page, an introduction explains the programme, followed by learning topics, course information and practical details such as timing, duration and cost. Video and parent testimonials add another perspective, helping visitors picture the experience before enrolling.

Presenting these details alongside an enrolment link creates a clear progression from interest to action. It gives parents space to make an informed choice, with the next step available when they are ready.

Bringing Bookings Online

Course enrolment and payment were key functional requirements for the website. We integrated a booking system to support these tasks within the online experience.

The aim was to connect course discovery with enrolment, allowing parents to explore the available information and move into booking through the website. Bringing bookings and payments together also provides the Grown Together team with a central process for handling registrations.

This practical functionality was an important part of the brief. The website needed to support the day-to-day delivery of courses as well as introduce the organisation and its work.

Resources Beyond Courses

The Resource Centre extends the website’s usefulness beyond course enrolment. It brings together links to parenting organisations and educational resources, including Parenting Place, Brainwave and Tūpuna Parenting.

Presenting these in one clearly labelled section gives families a starting point for further reading and support. Alongside services such as Connect & Play, it reflects the different ways Grown Together helps parents find information and build connections.

The website also acknowledges the sponsors who support this work, giving their contribution a visible place within the wider story.

The Outcome

The completed website brings Grown Together’s courses, services and resources into a consistent online home. It combines a warm visual approach with clear information and practical booking functionality, supporting families as they explore their options.

We’re pleased to have helped a local organisation communicate the breadth of its work and create clearer pathways for parents to find support, learn and connect.
