The Project

Dennison Joinery is a family-owned business specialising in custom joinery for commercial and residential purposes. They have been in operation locally in South Canterbury since 1966. The highly skilled team have experience in all joinery divisions, and with over 50 years’ experience in the industry, this third generation family-owned business combines fresh technological thinking with embedded skills and knowledge.

Logo Design

The custom logo was designed to show a linked D and J for Dennison Joinery. The letters were combined to represent the two names. As joined letters, they are also a symbolic reference to the joinery industry.

Website Design

The key purposes of the site are threefold:

1. Outline the company’s primary services
2. Exhibit high quality, bespoke joinery work
3. Encourage users to book consultations

These have been enhanced by the professional photography featured throughout the site, which superbly highlights the high standard and wide variety of custom joinery work.

The blue and orange colours used throughout the site were chosen as they are complementary to each other. They are also a reference to their parent company – J E Dennison – thus intrinsically linking the two businesses together. To attract the eye, we used bold colours for the primary call to action headings and text.

The typeface was selected with care as we wanted to break out of the standard grid layout and separate text from images to create a unique experience for the site. Using subtle animations to bring together images and text gives the site a bespoke feel, whilst still ensuring that the layout is simple, clean, and easy to navigate. The layering or ‘joining’ of elements is another visual reference to the joinery industry.
