Point E-Bikes
Website Design
Point E-Bikes is a premier e-bike hire service conveniently located in Pleasant Point, South Canterbury. As passionate active transport users and advocates of all things local, we were thrilled to take on this project.
Site Design
Why reinvent the Home Page wheel? A top navigation bar is a time-honoured element for good reason. We had three information priorities for site visitors:
- Point e-Bikes as a company,
- Bike trails around South Canterbury, and most importantly,
- The bikes on offer and how to book them.
Drop-down nav bars cover these options with ease. Sub-sections display each area as well, with convenient click-through buttons to their respective pages.
The colours from the logo are reflected throughout the rest of site, for example in subheading backgrounds and Book Now buttons. One style element we’re a particular fan of is the grid layout on the About Us page. By alternating text and images, the page is easy on the eye while being visually stimulating. It adds a point of interest that is both modern and timeless.
Reducing Friction
No need to carve time out of a busy schedule for a phone call! The bike booking engine integrates with external booking system Checkfront to provide smooth, painless bike hire. It allows a good range of optionality for the customer. They can book half day, full day, and multi-day hire, plus any added accessories they may want such as bike locks or car racks.
The embedded enquiry/contact form helps to streamline options and reduce decision fatigue. It offers customers options while only displaying stock that is actually available. This removes potential points of friction, such as if someone tried to hire 6 bikes when only 5 are in stock. Another way of reducing friction is to show customers up-front that they can trust a company. To aid this, Google Business Listing reviews from previous customers are pulled through in several places. This creates a neat testimonial section without any manual upkeep needed.
Local Knowledge
We utilised local knowledge in a few different ways for this site. The trails shown aren’t limited to just Timaru. They include Pleasant Point and wider South Canterbury, as well as the in-progress Central South trail. When finished, this will run from Timaru to Lake Tekapo, where it connects with the well-known Alps 2 Ocean trail. The content writing was done by a local freelance writer who uses many of the trails herself. And of course the image gallery is bursting with local photos!
As a local business who supports accessible and active transport options, we’re pumped with this site design for Point e-Bikes. It’s sure to be a great asset for them for many years to come.
